The creation of
the diamond in nature always connected with a specific
type of mineral – "The Kimberlight". This mineral,
appears as a fill of structured pipes, which
transatlantic the earth. These pipes were created by a
gas explosion which breaks out from the depth of earth.
In these pipes The Kimberlight climbed and brings with
him the rough diamonds, which crystallize in the depth
of earth.
Nearby to the
ground The Kimberlight is worn and yellowish due to the
oxygenation – called "Yellow Land", but as we goes down
deeper the mineral become more solid and his color
changes to blue – called "Blue Land".
The Kimberly & The Diavik Mines
It is very important to mention that the
presented of the Kimberlight pipe is not necessarily
proof that there are diamonds located in the area. The
first Kimberlight pipe discovered next to a town called
Kimberly at South Africa in 1870. More than 250 tons of ore need to be blasted, crushed
and processed to yield just one carat of rough diamond.
And of that relatively small amount, it is estimated
that only about one-fifth of all rough diamonds are
suitable for gem cutting.
It is
possible to discover rough diamonds also at some
alluvial deposits as; rivers beds, sea shores and even
at the bottom of the sea nearby the coast. The diamonds
arrives to these places by wind and rain which washes
them away from the rivers till the seas and because of
their survival journey they consider to be more solid
and quality.
De Beers is the largest
diamond mining company in the world today, producing over 40% of
global gem diamonds generated from their mines in Africa, as well as
sorting and valuing two thirds of the world’s annual supply of rough
diamonds. De Beers employs about 24,000 people in 19 countries.
This includes a multinational professional exploration team of over
200 earth scientists on 5 continents and in 13 countries, with over
25 joint venture exploration and evaluation projects with a number
of companies in many parts of the world.
They also have 20 mines currently in production in Africa and with
expertise in every form of mining built up over more than a
century.
De
Beers has the skills to surmount the formidable technical challenges
that face us wherever they operate, from deep sea to alluvial and open
pit. Based in London, the Diamond Trading Company (DTC) is the
rough diamond sales arm of the De Beers Group.
